We're Bringing Lucky Back . . .

We're bringing Lucky back . . .

 . . . Lucky Cat, that is!

We've brought back a mini collection of Lucky Cat pendants to IndyAndCleo! Hooray!

Know the legend of the Lucky Cat?

Lucky Cat, or Maneki~neko (Japanese, literally "beckoning cat") is a common Japanese figurine, lucky charm or talisman which is often believed to bring good luck to the owner.

The figurine depicts a cat (traditionally a calico Japanese Bobtail) beckoning with an upright paw, and is usually displayed ~often at the entrance~ of shops, restaurants, pachinko parlors, and other businesses. The maneki~neko is sometimes also called the welcoming cat, lucky cat, money cat, happy cat, beckoning cat, or fortune cat in English.

And so, the story goes . . .

Maneki~neko is the subject of a number of folktales.
Following, is one of the most popular explaining the cat's origin ~

The stray cat and the shop: The operator of an impoverished shop takes in a starving, stray cat despite barely having enough to feed himself. In gratitude, the cat takes up a station outside the establishment and beckons in new visitors, bringing prosperity as a reward to the charitable proprietor. Ever after, the "beckoning cat" has been a symbol of good luck for small business owners.

Sooooo . . . if you find you need an extra bit of good luck, or just plain love Lucky Cat, IndyAndCleo has just the little lucky charm for you!

❉ Each Lucky Cat Scrabble Tile Pendant is sold separately.

❉ Thank you Wikipedia Maneki~neko for portions of this post.
